What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a skin rejuvenation procedure that uses a diamond-tipped wand to gently scrap dead cells and debris from the outer layer of skin. Unlike hydradermabrasion, which uses a wet exfoliation technique, microdermabrasion uses fine crystals to exfoliate the skin. These small crystals and dead skin cells are simultaneously suctioned off with a vacuum-like device to clean out clogged pores and stimulate cell turnover of new, healthy skin cells. This is a minimally invasive procedure that is not considered uncomfortable.

Who is a Candidate for Microdermabrasion?
Anyone is a candidate for microdermabrasion treatment! Microdermabrasion can target a wide range of skin concerns and is safe for all skin types, so it is beneficial for most of our patients. However, if you hope to treat deep scars, severe acne scarring, or facial wrinkles, we may recommend another treatment that will be more beneficial to you.
Microdermabrasion Results & Recovery
There is no downtime needed after a microdermabrasion procedure so you can immediately return to your daily activities. The only side effects you might have are minor bruising, skin redness, tenderness, and swelling but this will improve within a few hours. After your treatment, make sure to use plenty of moisturizer and avoid sun exposure, especially if your skin feels dry or flaky from the exfoliation process.
