What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates the body’s wound healing process and new collagen and elastin growth. Collagen and elastin are proteins naturally found in the skin and they give it firmness and elasticity for a plump, youthful look. As we age, collagen production slows down, leading to skin laxity or sagging skin and wrinkles.

With the Collagen P.I.N microneedling device, tiny needles puncture the skin in micro-channels to stimulate collagen production and the turnover of new, healthy skin cells. New healthy skin cells replace damaged skin cells that form the appearance of acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and other skin imperfections.

These micro-channels in the skin’s surface also allow topical serums to be absorbed deeper into the skin for more effective use. Microneedling can be used on the face, neck, decolletage, hands, and more to improve skin elasticity and the appearance of aging skin.

Who is a Candidate for Microneedling?

Microneedling treatment is safe for all skin types and skin tones (including darker skin tones) and can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns. However, you should wait to receive treatment if you have an active skin infection or open wound, including acne breakouts.

Microneedling Results & Recovery

Microneedling results are both immediate and ongoing because of the gradual regrowth of collagen and elastin. After a microneedling procedure, mild skin swelling and redness are common, but your skin will quickly heal on its own within a few days, revealing brighter, healthier skin.

We recommend a series of 3-6 treatments, depending on the severity of the skin conditions you hope to treat. How many treatments you require can be determined at your initial consultation and we will also be happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Microneedling FAQs

Does RF Microneedling tighten skin?

Yes! RF Microneedling is one of the most effective non-surgical skin tightening treatments available. The combination of microneedles and radiofrequency energy stimulates collagen and elastin production deep within the skin. As new collagen forms, skin becomes noticeably firmer, tighter, and more lifted, especially around the jawline, neck, and cheeks. Results continue to improve over several months as collagen remodeling progresses.

How often can you do RF Microneedling?

RF Microneedling sessions are typically spaced 4–6 weeks apart to allow the skin adequate time to heal and for collagen production to begin. A standard treatment series consists of 3–4 sessions. After completing your initial series, maintenance treatments are usually recommended once every 6–12 months to sustain your results.

What is Microneedling with RF?

Microneedling with RF (radiofrequency) is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that combines two proven technologies. Tiny needles create micro-channels in the skin while simultaneously delivering radiofrequency energy deep into the dermis. This dual-action approach triggers the body's natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production. The result is smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin with improvements in texture, tone, fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and laxity.

What is the difference between Microneedling and RF Microneedling?

Traditional microneedling uses fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen production through the body's natural wound-healing response. RF Microneedling takes this a step further by combining microneedling with radiofrequency energy, which is delivered directly into the deeper layers of the dermis via the needles. The added RF energy generates controlled heat that significantly amplifies collagen and elastin stimulation, resulting in greater skin tightening, firming, and overall rejuvenation compared to microneedling alone. RF Microneedling is particularly effective for skin laxity, deeper wrinkles, and scarring.

Are there risks with RF microneedling?

RF microneedling is generally safe when performed by a licensed medical professional, but like any aesthetic treatment, there are potential risks. Common temporary side effects include redness, swelling, and mild sensitivity. Rare but more serious complications can include burns, scarring, fat loss, and nerve damage. In October 2025, the FDA issued a safety communication regarding these potential risks, which is why choosing an experienced provider is essential.
