What Are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are a popular skin treatment with many options to address your specific concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, dull-appearing skin, pigmentation issues, and scarring.
Your Chemical Peel Options
We offer three types of PCA skin peels at Ballert Medical Aesthetics:
PCA Sensi Peel
The PCA Sensi Peel is a light chemical peel that is safe for all patients, including those with sensitive skin. The peel contains a 6% TCA solution that exfoliates the skin for a brightening and smoothing effect.
PCA Hydroquinone with Resorcinol
The PCA Hydroquinone with Resorcinol is an enhanced version of Jessner’s formula with a powerful blend of salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol. This chemical peel’s strengthened blend of ingredients provides more exfoliation for oilier, thicker, and more resilient skin types. It is especially effective on sun-damaged and thickened skin and can treat skin conditions like active or cystic acne and asphyxiated skin (dry surface but oily underneath).
PCA Ultra Peel
The PCA Ultra Peel is designed to treat signs of aging on maturing skin, but it can also benefit many other skin types, conditions, and sensitivities. The peel contains a slightly stronger chemical solution with 10% TCA and lactic acid. Exfoliation smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while brightening your complexion.
Skin Conditions Treated with Chemical Peels
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Hyperpigmentation
- Acne-prone skin

- Uneven skin tone
- Rough skin texture
Who is a Candidate for Chemical Peels?
Almost anyone is a candidate for a chemical peel and the chemical peel used for your treatment will be carefully selected based on your skin type and concerns. If you have any allergies to certain ingredients like lactic acid, please let us know before your appointment. Our aestheticians will examine your skin to determine the best peel for you!
Chemical Peel Results and Recovery
After a chemical peel, the damaged skin cells on the outer layer will peel or flake off gradually. Light chemical peels may result in little to no flaking, but a medium chemical peel, like the enhanced Jessner’s peel, will result in mild to moderate flaking for about five days as your treated skin heals. After a chemical peel, make sure to keep your skin moisturized, avoid direct sun exposure, and do not pick at your flaking skin (as tempting as it might be). Within a few days, you will see brighter, healthier skin as new skin is resurfaced.
